The Story Behind Tailored IP

Tailored IP Solutions takes its name from my great-grandfather, a skilled tailor who lived and worked in Kraków more than a century ago. He cut every garment by hand and fitted each piece to the person who would wear it. His work reflected a simple belief that every customer deserved the same care and attention to detail.

Three generations later, I founded Tailored IP Solutions on the same principled approach: that legal counsel should begin with the person and business behind the matter, not a standard package. Protecting trademarks and creative works is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor; it demands meticulous attention to what makes each client’s business distinct. Each strategy should reflect (1) what the client wants to accomplish, (2) how the business operates and competes, (3) which rights and risks matter most, and (4) where the client intends to go. Tailored IP builds its recommendations around those circumstances with the same care and attention to detail that my great-grandfather brought to his craft.

The trademarks a business selects to identify its goods and services, and the creative works the business develops, can become some of its most valuable assets. Tailored IP provides legal services built around how a business operates today and where the client wants to take it. Contact Tailored IP to discuss a trademark, copyright, or related matter.

About Me

Tomasz Barczyk, Founder and Principal Attorney of Tailored IP Solutions
Tomasz Barczyk Founder & Principal Attorney

As Founder and Principal Attorney of Tailored IP Solutions, I focus on trademark, copyright, and related matters. I earned my J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where I earned a certificate of specialization in Law & Technology. My undergraduate work at Northwestern University combined international political economy and neuroscience and included European Union studies at Sciences Po in Paris. Together, those fields taught me to examine how law, markets, technology, and human behavior shape one another. That perspective informs how I apply the law to client decisions and changing business conditions.

I am admitted to practice in California and Illinois and remain engaged with developments in the field through private practice, scholarship, and leadership roles across bar associations and professional organizations. I built Tailored IP around a deliberate focus on trademark, copyright, and related matters so I can remain directly involved in each engagement. I serve clients in English, Polish, and Spanish.

I find trademark law deeply compelling because the work combines direct relationships with clients and legal questions that never arrive in exactly the same form. Each engagement allows me to learn how a client built a business, how the business competes, and what the client wants to accomplish. The legal analysis then turns those facts into a strategy that fits the mark, the market, and the client’s priorities.

My work also addresses how established trademark, unfair competition, and copyright principles apply to emerging technologies. New technologies require counsel to determine which precedent governs and where the law remains unsettled, then turn that uncertainty into practical guidance. Artificial intelligence presents the current wave of those questions, especially in search, marketing, and sales. Tailored IP’s separate consulting practice applies that broader approach to potential trademark and federal unfair competition liability arising from business uses of AI.
